Here is my analysis of the image I posted yesterday on Facebook and Instagram pages.
Kudos to all who thought Smokey Soft Autumn was her season. I did too!
Yes, she is AI-created. But I’m never 100% sure what will be produced from my prompts. So when she first popped up, I was a little unsure myself as to what I would label her.
I thought for a moment that she was a Soft Winter who had lightened up over the years.
One thing is for certain: she is muted. And those muted seasons can be tough. They are not super deep or light - often sometimes in the middle, like this woman, though I would say she is slightly deeper than lighter.
She's not very warm or very cool, but I see more warmth than coolness. And the warmth in her skin seemed to me to have depth, not just a surface overtone or slight tan.
Those eyes I have seen many times in Smokey Autumns: an earthy mix of grey and olive and brown, like bark on a tree. So, of course, I had to try to illustrate that, and I think it came out well (below).
I have found that people with this specific coloring, while still cooling down and possibly lightening up, do well in neutrals. They don’t just do well, rich neutrals seem to be their ‘power colors’.
Smokey Soft Autumns do indeed look great in rich, muted earth tones: olive, cool brown, warm grey, stone, sienna, and so many others.
Anything too warm will be overpowering and out of place, even though they are Autumns.
Of course, anything too cool will not harmonize at all. But cool neutrals, like taupe and charcoal, are not too completely unflattering. Of course, if you can find a warm navy and charcoal, it’s even better.
Lastly, truly universal colors like good 'ol Teal will always be a great choice.
If you find a dark teal color, it can be a great alternative to black for warmer seasons.
If she cools down over the years even more, and if she lets her hair go completely grey, she may want to explore transitioning over to the Toasted Soft Summer - another season that does fantastic in neutrals but needs more coolness.
However, her eyes may still have enough warmth in them to maintain her rich and earthy Smokey Autumn season. It's her choice.
