Why I dont like most face cards for color analysis involves a couple of reasons.
However, I will first say that I think, in general, cardboard face cards that some color analysts use in their assessments are a great alternative to fabric.
Fabric is heavy, bulky, and can wrinkle easily. Shipping is ridiculously expensive. And keeping them in order can be a huge pain.
I don't hate fabric drapes, but honestly, what is needed for a good color analysis, a good analyst simply needs to see colors under a client's face, regardless of the material.
But most of the cards I see are similar to these:

The cards have a face-sized cutout, and you are to determine which sets look best based on the multiple colors that surround the board.
But there are a couple of issues I have with these types of face cards.
First, it irritates me when hair color is not taken into consideration when doing an analysis. Hair color is a huge factor, whether it's the correct color or the wrong color for her. Skin color is a big factor, but it’s not everything.
But the biggest issues are the multiple colors and the contrast.
You are not just looking at a bunch of colors all at once; you are also looking at the contrast of all those colors. And that is a lot to assess at one time.
I don’t like anything that could possibly derail an accurate analysis.

In my color analysis training, you’ll learn how to use my Face Flash Cards by testing two colors against each other. You take the “winner” and then test that color against the next one.
It’s a precise, methodical process, and I believe it makes determining a client’s season much easier.
There are simply two colors from which to determine the better choice, not multiple colors all at once.
Can you see how the pink is far better than the orange, as this woman has very little warmth in her coloring (above)?
Fyi: I originally made my Face Flash Cards available only to those in my training, but due to many requests, for a limited time, they’re now available for purchase in my storefront to everyone.
